Joshua Mark George
Trainee Counsellor
Listening to people’s life stories is something I have always been passionate about. Growing up with parents who were pastoral counsellors, I have seen how powerful it is to give people a safe space to unburden themselves without judgment. Counselling has also played a critical role in my life, helping me cope with ADHD, anxiety, depression, and suicidal thoughts.
Having gone through the therapeutic journey myself, I would love to empathetically guide you through the process of discovering yourself and finding solutions to your issues.
Therapy can be intimidating, and I sincerely appreciate the courage it takes to reach out and make the first step toward therapy. I want to make you feel as comfortable as possible through the process and truly listen to you so that we can work together on identifying your life patterns and exploring where they come from, while discovering new perspectives on yourself and gaining the skills to cope with your challenges.
It is a privilege to be entrusted with a client’s vulnerable self, and I will do my best to safely guide you toward the goals you hope to achieve from therapy.
I am trained to help people with stress, unhappiness, lack of motivation, low self-esteem, grief/loss, loneliness/rejection, anger management, adjustment issues, social skills and assertiveness, worry about the future/finances, educational and career guidance, relationship issues, managing poor health, and time management. I also have extensive experience volunteering with LGBTQIA+ and neurodivergent communities in India and Malaysia, and I adopt a queer-affirming approach to helping clients with concerns related to their gender and sexual identity.
My counselling approach is flexible to your needs, and I am primarily informed by principles from cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and person-centred therapy (PCT), with a keen interest in exploring interventions in schema therapy, systems therapy, and ACT.
